Gillian Matthews’ work responds to the correlation between contour and line, transcribing what is seen to what is felt and vice versa producing studies real, remembered and imagined.
Gillian is interested in exploring elemental, geological and botanical aspects as a rhetoric between physical tethers and movement outwith a limited space.
Driven by fluidity, form and texture, ways of working encompass the following, individually or in combination: watercolour; charcoal; line drawing and textiles to express reflective and abstract interpretations of her practice.
